Hey, Buzz.
Indeed a very long time. As you can see, I am finally getting around to building this thing. And don't worry, I'll keep it to a safe cheez, like Stilton or Manchego. Hit me up, we should talk (scotty at yessian dot com), I have a bunch of Telefunken 672's that I need to recap and rack-up. I could always use some suggestions on mounting, etc. TTYL

Scotty,

Looking good. Lots of fun... been building a lot of goodies ... we'll have to talk.. been too long.

Be careful..... ...... always work with one hand( then an accidental shock does not go accross your heart from one hand flowing to ground( other hand completing the circuit)....., double check caps are bled out even though you powered down( they can hold a charge for years).....and don't be cheezin while you're working- even if it is really kind Siamese your buddy gave you.

Hi Daza Dee,
Good luck on your project. The original LA2a is wired point to point, not with circuit boards. Circuit board layout can have an impact on the sound, and a poor circuit board layout can degrade the sound quality as well as causing cross-talk, ground and noise problems. That being said, if your are using a kit with a circuit board that is already made, or you are using a pre-designed circuit board layout, then these issues have probably already been addressed by the person who laid out and/or manufactured the circuit board. I have seen plans for LA2a with circuit board construction that looked well designed. So, if you go that route, I don't think you will be disappointed. As far as schematics and layouts, I would recommend taking a look on www.RecProAudio.com. I have seen some good info for DIY LA2a there. Hope this helps. I will be posting new pics today of the chassis in its current state: most of the components have been mounted, but no wiring yet!

Hello Scotty.

I am going to build an LA2a with a friend here in London. Do tou have a diagram or schematic for point to point wiring?

Will it make much difference to the sound?

Thanks

I actually tried stealing this the other day but ended up electrocuting myself with those 400 volts. Brilliant anti-theft device Scott!

Oh, and I'm suing you for hospital costs.
